A crowd was left bewildered when the US president called out the audience for not applauding him in his speech,<\/p>\n

On September 30, Donald Trump dropped his big vision in a speech to military leaders at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia.<\/p>\n

While the POTUS has already deployed the National Guard to take over local law enforcement in Washington, D.C., and Chicago, it\u2019s clear he is centring the military in his wider plans for the nation.<\/p>\n

Amongst some of the wildest parts of his speech, he said the US is at war internally and at the border with immigration.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a war from within. Controlling the physical territory of our border is essential to national security. We can\u2019t let these people in,\u201d he said in part.<\/p>\n

Also, Trump pointed the finger at Russia and China with a bleak warning, stating that the US is more than two decades ahead of both in its nuclear capabilities.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, his speech clearly went down like a lead balloon as the president noticed himself that the room was painstakingly quiet.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never walked into a room so silent before. This is very\u2026 Don\u2019t laugh, don\u2019t laugh,\u201d he said to stony silence.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re not allowed to do that\u2026You know what, just have a good time. And if you want to applaud, you applaud. And if you want to do anything you want, you can do anything you want.\u201d<\/p>\n

After that, Trump added: \u201cIf you don\u2019t like what I\u2019m saying, you can leave the room, \u2018cos there goes your rank, there goes your future.\u201d<\/p>\n

The apparent joke did earn him a few laughs before he continued: \u201cYou just feel nice and loose, okay? Because we\u2019re all on the same team.\u201d<\/p>\n

The awkward moment did not go amiss on Twitter, although, as dozens raced to the social media platform to cringe at the speech while others were horrified by Trump\u2019s thinly veiled \u2018joke\u2019 to strip military personnel of their rank for failing to applaud him.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd there it is!,\u201d wrote one. \u201c\u2018Do as I ask or suffer!\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are the words of a dictator, not a president. This is his entire philosophy with his cabinet. Puppets, yes men, servants, worshipers and MAGA sheep. This is not leadership. This is authoritarian rule. Wake up America.\u201d<\/p>\n

A second chimed: \u201cThe fact they didn\u2019t applaud this a**hole gives me hope for our country. They will not follow unlawful orders.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cReally not doing his best to shake those accusations of fascism,\u201d read a third.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in Trump\u2019s speech, he discussed how he\u2019d sent 1,700 National Guard troops to areas across the country under the objective of helping ICE and the Department of Homeland Security with ramped-up immigration raids.<\/p>\n

He also took issue with Democrat-led cities, slamming them as \u2018very unsafe places\u2019 that his administration, with the help of the military, are \u2018going to straighten out one by one.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
